Volcanoes and Cellar Holes: the History of the Land

Join us for a walk on the property surrounding the Castle to discover how nature and people have shaped it throughout the years!  We’ll discuss the site’s long history, from its geological activity 100 million years ago, the historic cellar holes surrounding the estate, Tom and Olive Plant’s transformations, and the current stewardship of the almost 5,000 acres surrounding the Castle.

Please be aware that this tour will last approximately 90 minute and involves walking outdoors, including slight inclines and uneven ground. Please wear appropriate footwear, dress for the weather, and bring sunscreen and bug spray as desired.
