Disobey your mother and look at the sun…through a hydrogen-alpha telescope! Each Sunday, members of the NH Astronomical Society set up their telescopes in the field by Shannon Pond. Drop by and speak with the astronomers, learn about the sun, and try out their telescopes anytime between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm.

Solar Gazing requires clear skies. In the event that it is raining or overcast, there will be an opportunity to chat with the astronomers in the Winnipesaukee Room on the second floor of the Carriage House instead.

Solar Gazing requires clear skies. In the event that it is rainy or overcast, there will be a drop-by astronomy presentation in the Winnipesaukee Room on the second floor of the Carriage House instead. The Carriage House is located just a short walk beyond the main parking lot. Accessible parking is available directly across from the Carriage House.

The Solar Gazing program will occur across from the Picnic Pavilion and the Café by Shannon Pond. Parking is available in the hiker parking lot across from the Café, or in our main visitor lot. To access the property, please use the following (GPS Compatible) address:

This program is weather-dependent. In the event that it is raining or overcast, there may be an opportunity to chat with the astronomers in the Winnipesaukee Room on the second floor of the Carriage House instead.

In the case of the Castle Preservation Society canceling the program for extenuating circumstances, registrants will be notified of cancellation via phone or email
